How It Started

Shop Aromiel began in a small workshop in South Philadelphia, where our founder started hand-pouring soy candles as a hobby. Frustrated with the synthetic, headache-inducing candles available at big-box stores, she began experimenting with natural soy wax and premium fragrance oils. The first candles were given to friends and family, who quickly started asking for more.

What started as a kitchen-table project grew into a passion for natural home fragrance. The more we learned about the candle industry — the paraffin wax, the synthetic fragrances, the environmental impact — the more determined we became to offer an alternative.

The Inspiration

The name "Aromiel" comes from the French word "arôme" (aroma) and "miel" (honey) — a nod to the natural, golden warmth of soy wax and the sweet, authentic fragrances we create. Our inspiration comes from the belief that home fragrance should be as natural and thoughtful as the food we eat and the products we put on our skin.

We were inspired by the artisanal candle-making traditions of Provence, where candles are still hand-poured using natural waxes and botanical fragrances. We brought that same craftsmanship to Philadelphia, adapting it with locally sourced soy wax and modern fragrance blends.

We spend months developing each scent, testing fragrance oil concentrations, wick sizes, and wax temperatures to ensure the perfect burn and scent throw. Every candle is hand-poured, not machine-made, because we believe human attention produces a better product.

Our Commitment to Quality

Quality is non-negotiable at Shop Aromiel. We use only 100% natural soy wax — never paraffin blends. Our fragrance oils are premium grade, free of phthalates and synthetic dyes. Our essential oils are pure, undiluted, and bottled in UV-protective amber glass. Our cotton wicks are zinc-sustainer tipped for clean, even burning.

Every batch is tested for burn time, scent throw, and wax density before it reaches our customers. If a batch doesn't meet our standards, it doesn't ship. It's that simple.
